Thousands of Americans canceled their bank accounts in protest
In protest against banking system, thousands of American citizens have canceled their bank accounts and transferred money into credit unions.
On the page of a well-known social network «Facebook», more than 80 thousand people have subscribed to this action.
The creator of “Bank Transfer Day” Kristen Christian explains that she has started an action on the grounds that she was tired from increased fees and that she could not access her money when she needed it.
Christian was a client of one of U.S. banks, namely «Bank of America» and she refused to pay a monthly $ 5 service charge for her bank card.
According to the data provided by the National Association of Credit Unions, after the introduction of additional fee for using cards, over 650 thousand customers refused the services of «Bank of America».
It should be noted that the protests against the banking system have been continuing in the U.S. not for the first month.
