On November 8, an asteroid of about 400 meters will pass by Earth.

Asteroid 2005 YU55 will pass 300 thousand kilometers from Earth, which is closer than the distance to the Moon. The object will be the closest passing space rock over the past 30 years.

According to scientists, potentially, this is a harmless asteroid, which provides a good opportunity to study it: NASA and NSF are planning to hold a series of studies, starting from Friday, in order to conduct reconnaissance of the surface and study its chemical composition.

Note that the next such asteroid will fly close to our planet only in 2028.
